About
Francisco Silva
Francisco Silva has a long history performing Beethoven’s music. His debut at the age of 19 playing Beethoven’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra brought him numerous accolades. Four years later, he delivered his first performance of the complete 32 Piano Sonatas. The cycle received rave reviews and Silva was awarded “The Best Pianist of the Year” prize by the Arts Critics Association in his native country, Brazil, an honor never before given to such a young artist. Recordings of the live performances of the sonatas were released and immediately sold out.
Other career highlights include performances of the complete Beethoven works for piano and violin, the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel (later recorded for a French label), numerous television and radio broadcasts in the US, South America and Europe.
.

Francisco received research grants from institutions in Brazil and the US and holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan. Most noteworthy is a repeat performance of the Beethoven Sonata cycle at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, in 2001, establishing a musical landmark in the state of Georgia.
As residents of the “Peach State” since 1993, Francisco and his wife, pianist Mireille Silva, established a successful music school and taught hundreds of students. Together they authored their highly effective ‘Silva Piano Method”, which is being for refashioned for a combined online and in-person version for 2025. They have two sons who are also musicians and divide their time in Marietta and the Golden Isles, which the Silvas have been making their home for the past few years.

The order of the sonatas for the programs were chosen by Francisco Silva to provide the greatest contrast between pieces yet still maintain the chronological integrity of the composer’s life and compositional development.
